The airport is just 18km North-East of the city, and there are three options to get you from there to the city to start your vacation. You can choose to get a taxi to your hotel or any part of the neighbourhood, or anywhere for that matter. Make sure to agree on a price before you get in to save yourself the hassle of being overcharged. It’s also a good idea to speak to a few different drivers and make out you have other potential options to give yourself a better chance of haggling and agreeing a good price. There are minibuses you can get from outside of Terminal 1, pay as you get onboard and just tell the driver where you wish to be dropped off as there are no bus stops along the route. Finally you can rent a car although this isn’t a great idea unless you are familiar with driving around Egypt. The airport is only 15 minutes away by car so if you’re not planning to explore further your best bet is either the bus or taxi.
