I was never sent a final itemized bill, and was assured over the phone there would not be added charge for returning the car at a different location/after hours. The extensions through Hertz were also absurdly priced, ranging from $2.10 some days to $200+ on others. My car search was extended after my last one died, so I ended up opening a new rental with the same car.

Do not go to this Hertz if possible. Booked on Kayak for 1 day. This hertz is closed on Sundays so I had to pay for 2 days even though I only used the car for 24 hours. Very frustrating. The car also smelled like smoke and was extremely dirty.

The lady at the counter was awesome. After taking the train from NYC to Stamford to get the car, I unfortunately forgot my drivers license back in NYC! She let me leave my bags in the office so that I wouldn't have to drag them back to NYC to retrieve my license.

The cost of the refueling charge is out of line with current fuel pricing. And at Bradley/Hartford the distance from the terminal to the actual car rental front desk is too far without a shuttle when you have luggage. The directional signage is poor; for first time travelers at this location.

Pick-up was fine. The dropoff in EWR was not. There was not an attendant immediately in the vicinity. The drop-off parking spot was not clear. No receipt was given to me; rather, I was told to click/scan a sign's URL and fill out the drop-off form. AND, when I did so in the terminal, it appeared to be for HERTZ. Bottom line - confused, poorly executed. Finally, the signage to get to the drop-off location was the worst I've ever seen. It took a lot of time, effort, and LUCK. The rental companies need to collaborate on signage with the Port Authority and the State of New Jersey to totally revamp it. Truly a mess.

They didn't have the car I initially reserved, which I can understand due to the rental car shortage we hear about all the time. You really need to scrutinize your bill, though. I was charged a late fee (they showed I returned the car at 2 pm, which was impossible since my flight left at 9:15 am) and was also charged for an upgrade, when they told me I would not be charged one since it wasn't my fault that they didn't have the much smaller car I requested. I called them right away and they were very nice about all the issues and removed all inappropriate charges. Despite all the issues, I would still use them again (while still carefully checking my bill) because their customer service was on point.
