We arrived to find they had NO CARS. They just said, "Sorry, due to the bank holiday there are no cars and there's nothing we can do. We tried to contact you yesterday, but couldn't call you due to American phone number." So, I got an email reminder from Budget about the reservation, but that wasn't used to tell us of a problem. Also, if they had known for over 24 hours, why didn't they get a car from Cardiff or somewhere? It's not that far away. And why had they lent out so many cars they couldn't cover reservations? When we arrived at the office, they hadn't even bothered to call other agencies for us, so when they did there were no cars at those agencies either. They made essential no effort to fix the problem that was entirely their fault. I have never encountered anything like this in years of renting cars and am blown away by the fact that they didn't have a car for us. Why bother to reserve one? In the end, our local friends had to borrow a car from some of their friends so we could get out to western Wales and our pre-paid, non-refundable cottage. It was an inconvenience all around, and if we didn't have local contacts our holiday would have been sunk.
