Cheap Car Hire in Central Business District, Auckland from AED 267

Car was a little dirty inside when received, but drove great for us & the staff was friendly & helpful. I will add that when returning it, they noticed a small chip in the windshield (from a rock or something) - at first I was charged for damages, but they later refunded them, so thank you Hertz!

The pickup experience was really poor. The solo man staffing the pickup location was not trained on how the car’s systems should work, leaving us to troubleshoot. This meant that when we found an issue he got extremely flustered, both because he didn’t know how to fix it and because he had 8+ customers waiting in line behind us. He did his best, but he wasn’t set up for success and the experience got the rental off to a bad start.

The car was rented through a online website, called Kayak who then took me to a reantalcars.com site where the final booking was made. The vehicle was advertised at $68 but his turned out to be $68 US more expensive the NZ currency and I was not aware the site was quoting US dollars for people who lived in NZ, which I do. I was then prompted to pay for insurance, at $37 USD approx, I note on the insurance document that the cover was for $73,200.00 USD. When I have rented before the insurance is normally about $30 NZD. I am concerned that I have been charged insurance for the vehicle value in US Dollars ie $73,200 when the vehicle value was in fact $73,200 NZ and the insurance more expensive than required to cover that vehicle. Is something Hertz does to increase revenue, I feel I have been overcharged and it is likely that other people renting through this site have also been overcharged for insurance in this instance. As we left a bag in the car, the after service is abysmal. We just wanted to call the Domestic Office at the airport and ask them to go outside ,open the door of the car, and hold the bag in the office until my son could pick it up. Instead, our calls were rerouted to some far distant call centre. The poor people could not understand us or we them. Email was the only option. When they tried calling the offices, there was no reply. Europcar might consider a different system. We have had no contact to date.

I’ve had huge issues with Europcar charging excessive, unauthorised amounts to my credit card. The whole experience has been very poor indeed.
