The amount of time I waited to get a receipt after turning the car in was excessive. They had a few employees handling three different rental-car companies.

The National / Alamo service counter was not open inside and there was no sign on the desk to indicate that they were located outside under the parking garage.

Dollar at the BHM airport is basically nonexistent. There is apparently never any staff at the desk, there is no kiosk in the garage, and no one to help you figure out how to actually get your car. Avoid using Dollar here and just go for a bigger name rental company.

Person that gave us our key at Hertz counter was totally passed out with her head on the counter. Drop off was poorly marked and unorganized. Price on your website did not include many fees added at airport (approximately $95). Price of vehicle was already overpriced for such a budget/ low grade vehicle.

I loved the convenience of having the car available just steps from baggage claim.

I reserved a vehicle with the intention to tow a camper the next day. I then called the company to make absolutely certain the vehicle had a tow hitch as other companies I have rented from always did. They informed they did not permit towing with their vehicles. I then cancelled the reservation (all within 30 minutes). They charged me a $50 fee for cancelling within 24 hours of the rental, but they, of course, ignored the fact I did so within 30 minutes of making the rental reservation online to begin with. The rental location was closed as I did this late at night, so they had taken no action whatsoever to prepare for my rental. Long story short, I will NEVER do business with this company. Too many others to choose from. Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me. I don't give second chances to do me dirty.

The car was filthy and not clean when I picked it up. It seemed heavily of smoke and gas fumes. The fee was astronomical and the representative would not change it to the government rate, even though I showed them the paperwork.

The car smelled of smoke to the point that we had to keep the windows open the entire time we had the vehicle.

The rental from BHM airport was simple. The minivan was just what we needed

First car I was given had nonstop electrical problems. The CarPlay wouldn’t work and then ultimately an electrical failure rendered the car useless. After several hours, which caused me to miss a critical meeting, I secured a replacement vehicle. The lift gate on that one had to be forced open and closed. When I returned it, the attendant said, “they knew about that.” Won’t ever be using Avis again.

Reservation cancelled the day before rental due to lack of cars. Made a different reservation and had a 45 minute wait at the reservation counter

Could have used a GPS

I was given misinformation on my rental that I had booked 8 days before. I had confirmed everything the night before pick up and was told everything was confirmed and ready for pick up. When I went to pick up the rental the reps told me something totally different regarding my payment that had already been pre-paid. I wasnt happen and on top of that didn't understand why I had to call and cancel the reservation when I was right there @ Hertz. I went to anther rental agency from there and had no problems gettin a rental from them.

Didn't get the car I wanted so I cancelled the rental and had trouble getting KAYAK to make a refund. Rent direct not through KAYAK.
