Cheap Car Rentals in South Lamar, Austin

The staff and car was great but Kayak was not clear on their websites that the Enterprise I booked at was NOT the Enterprise at the airport. By the time we landed and realized this problem the location our car was at was closed for the day. PLEASE make rental car locations clear, not just with an address, we're from out of town, we don't know street names - label it as the airport rental location.

Avis didn’t have the sedan available that I reserved so I ended up with a small SUV which certainly wasn’t ideal for my trip with my 85 year old mom.

I reserved rental car for the Austin airport thinking a shuttle bus will carry us to the rental place. By the time we called the place it was closed at 6 pm. Our reservation didn’t show time for closing. I was then told by Avis rep at the airport that you can pick up the car within 24 hr. We decided to pick up next day. When I called the rental place, the representative jacked up the price close to $485. We ended up having no car, which was a huge inconvenience in a city unknown to us.

I picked it up at 1:30 am. When I got to the car no one was there to explain anything. I finally saw one person and asked about the keys. I was told that they were on the dash or on the console. I finally found them. After driving for about ten minutes the low fuel warning came on. They had not filled it from the last rental. I had to find a station at two in the morning. After returning it I told the person what had happened and also that the Sun visor bracket was broken when I picked up the car. When I would put it down it hung at an angle. When I got the bill the basic rate had changed and the price was more than doubled. I called and after explaining the difference was told it was being sent to the investigation department. I checked my credit card and it was charged even higher than the e-bill.

Staff very friendly. But my gas tank wasn’t full and my bill was $900. So now I get to spend prob an hour on the phone tomorrow fixing this.

Was unable to get through on phone to the local office to ask about pickup detail as their contact info is hidden by the centralized call center.

They didn't have a car for us, and they couldn't have cared less. We ended up renting with Turo. We're still trying to get our money back.
