Make sure you know the exact time for pick up and drop off or they either cancel your reservation or charge you a lot more for a different available vehicle.

The customer service rep (Tariq) that helped me pick up the car was sneaky trying to scam me. He was saying that we can get an upgrade without mentioning an up charge; thank goodness I asked. He hassled us to see proof of insurance. And the fee to hold he put $500 when I heard his colleague charge another customer $250. I feel like I can’t trust Payless associates.

Payless hit me with a bait-and-switch regarding my rental vehicle. My reservation was for a COMPACT SUV - clearly and plainly. As stated here, from the reservation email: Your car rental details Confirmation number: 21080411US2 Pick-up location Payless 3355 Admiral Boland Way San Diego, CA 92101 Vehicle type: Compact SUV Hyundai Venue Upon arrival at the rental counter in San Diego after a long day of cross-continental travel (BTV-IAD-SAN) a Payless staffer informed me that my reservation had potentially been "cancelled" due to my arriving later in the day thanks to flight delays imposed by United Airlines, and that I needed to go upstairs and speak with a manager. Upon speaking with the manager, Jasmin, I was told that my reservation was NOT actually for a Compact SUV but for only an economy vehicle, despite me showing her what my reservation stated. After a significant delay, I was presented with the smallest car on the lot, a Mitsubishi Mirage that ranks as possibly the smallest and most basic vehicle any car rental company has ever sold me. I was told this was my only option, despite the documentation I showed. Not a good experience!

The staff menber was extremely friendly and spoke to me about making them my number one choice in the future without being pushy. Very positive experience.

Waited in line 2 hours at pick up and didn't get the car I reserved.

The pickup line was long and slow. I left my glasses in the car, and it was very difficult to reach an employee at the location to help me.

Explain the double shuttle ride better

Very friendly staff, easy pickup and drop off. Definitely recommend.
