The person working there was very friendly and efficient. They only thing is that upon returning the car she thought she saw a chip in the windshield when I returned it. She couldn’t see the chip in her pictures she had taken. She called someone else who said they could see a chip in previous pictures. I prayed that I wouldn’t be held responsible for that and I wasn’t thank God! I knew I didn’t have anything hit my windshield and I had only driven it a few miles in the 4 days I had it.

Not a thing. This was literally the worst car rental experience I've ever had

Here's the story - I booked ahead of time, pre paid to ensure we had a car. Decided to treat the family and surprise the kids with a convertible (they've never ridden in one, and hey why not? it's sunny southern California!). Got all confirmations aligned, had a pick up time and car agreed upon, was charged my full rate, figured I was good to go. WRONG! Because of the awful customer service from Kayak and this absolutely Terrible company Hertz I was stranded without a car and grossly overspent on Ubers to get me around for the week. Will NEVER use either Kayak or Hertz again... Two hours before the defined time (4pm) I get a call from the rental place. "Please call us back when you can" ... oh boy... I called was greeted by a VERY rude agent who was completely unapologetic - "we don't have a car for you." I got some lame excuse about other people not returning their cars, even though they had set up a rental with me. So, I waited while she ran through why I should care about what the company is going through. Finally had a chance to speak, "okay so where does that leave me?" - answered with the same "We don't have a car for you"... frustrating to say the least. So here I am, on vacation with my children, the excitement I wanted to see in their eyes fading. "Okay, so what other options are out there," I asked, knowing I had already paid for one of the most expensive cars they had, I figured they'd offer a discounted rate for an alternative car. Apparently htis company has never heard of customer service, instead they said the have no cars at all and offered me a cargo van...for me and my children. Not exactly a convertable...nor acceptable. In sort it ended with me not having a car, them saying that it's not their fault / problem and that I should not have booked through Kayak, because there is a technical gap that allows us to book cars that are actually not available. Because of Kayak and this absolutely Terrible company Hertz I was stranded without a car and grossly overspent on Ubers to get me around for the week. Will NEVER use either Kayak or Hertz again...

I realize that the covid-related car shortage is affecting everyone. Finally found a car to drive from San Diego to Palm Springs, since my flight had been cancelled. Too bad it was almost $200! (My suitcase is still en route to Palm Springs--flight delayed. I left Washington, DC for Palm Springs Wednesday at 9am and was supposed to arrive at 2pm Wednesday. Oh well...)

Pick up person was ok

The cost I got on line was $143, but when I picked up car they had a new price of over $230. After my trip I had to make several calls to get it adjusted to the price I was given when I booked.

Staff was friendly and as helpful as possible.

However the first place we had our rental for was a nightmare. We called the national line and they said they had our car ready, but the local place didn't have it so I had to scramble for a few hours. They told me I needed to go to a different Avis but that Avis never picked up the phone as I called for 2 hours straight. eventually I had to use a backup reservation I made for 2 days, but I only needed the car for 1 day, so I ended up paying $150 more than I needed to. One of the local staff people said that Priceline does not have accurate counts of cars that are available so my suggestion is that Avis and Priceline stop working together because it causes problems for the consumer, where they fix the issue.

The staff was friendly and I liked the car I rented.

There was mis-communication after mis-communication...I reserved a car for noon pickup in San Diego and called to see if I could pick it up earlier, they changed my reservation over the phone to 11 am but no one else seemed to be aware of this throughout the whole process. For example, I picked up my car and they didn't tell me that picking it up earlier meant I had to return it earlier. So when I returned it, they said I was 'late' and charged me a late fee. I was not late going by my noon return time, which is what I had booked on line. I talked to the staff when I returned my car to the Orange Co airport about the fee, who said I had to talk to the people at the Avis counter in the Orange County airport, who said I had to call back to the San Diego Office where I rented the car, who said I needed to talk to the staff back at the Orange County Avis counter I just left! UGH!!!!!!! I will never rent from Avis again. It was complete confusion, or dishonesty. Neither is a good look.

The location is in a bad part of town. The car was dirty and not full of gas. It was unprofessional and I would not rent there again.

At pickup, staff was horrible. The gentleman was very slow and was texting while helping us. However, the guy who checked us out when we dropped the vehicle off was quick and much more helpful. Overall, the experience was good and the car was perfect.

The customer service at the rental store could have been better. The rest was good though.

They cancelled my reservation last minute. Claimed they called my phone the day before which is not true. I showed up morning of and was told there were no more cars. Didn’t offer any help on alternatives.

sucks. I booked a car from 2pm and I got to the shop at 2:00. However, the shop was closed and I couldn’t rent the car. And they didn’t accept my refund. It was one of my worst experiences in my life.
