Poor|Jul 2023I had a unique experience that made it tough !!! I had reserved this car by paying for this thru affirm payment co !!!? We’ll this purpose posed a problem as a result of the fact by purchasing from Affirm & pre paying for this rental, I wasn’t able to present a hard card that I used for the pre pay ??? As a result this hertz rental co would not rent the car to me although against n it was pre paid ?? Well after 4 hours calling Kayak, Affirm and Herrtz representatives, I ended up paying for the rental by hopefully cancelling with Kayak & than repaying with my own personal card, which also became an ordeal because the daily rate had gone up ?? Well after another 30 minutes the Hertz rental location Mngr said that if I could cancel this pre paid reservation they would try to get close to the amount I had set it up for, which eventually they did do !! Although the persons at this location were somewhat friendly through the situation & professional, I believe a resolution to this problem should not have taken 4 hours after a pre paid had been done !!

Poor|Aug 2023Pickup was delayed by 1 1/2 hrs. even though we had a set time. Dropping off though was terrible. The Clayton, Missouri site was to close by Saturday/noon. We got there at 11 am only to find the place closed. Instructions on the door stated to drop off original receipts and key in the drop box. Problem - there were only three parking spaces available and they were all filled! The 1-800 number for assistance is a terrible phone tree without an option to leave a message. We ended up parking on the city street and hoping the car wouldn't be ticketed. We had to wait until Monday morning to confirm that they had found the car (we had left a note to its whereabouts). This is our second bad experience with Hertz. The people at the desks are just fine but the company policies are not customer friendly.

Poor|Apr 2023I had a reservation, showed up to pickup the vehicle.. No cars available. Sat and waited 3 hours for a car. Was told if no cars showed up before they closed I would have to come back in the morning. The guys at the counter were nice, customer service was completely useless. I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER rent from Hertz again. EVER

Poor|Apr 2023the caucasian male with black short hair and black stubble at the counter is defrauding the customers for extra expensive car insurance, even if you already bought car insurance while booking from hertz. check your receipt for FIVE times when it’s printed out and don’t leave the parking lot. this was never happened in the past three years.

Okay|Jul 2023The car itself is efficient and drives well. The pickup was poor: had to wait 10 minutes for agent to come to the door to check me out. The car was dirty inside and out and a few items were in the car from a previous renter. It seems to be a one man show at the pickup location. Not good at all.

Poor|Dec 2022The budget location was closed when we arrived, even though we were on time for our pickup. When I called budget to try and get a car at another location, they said they were completely booked out. I had to scramble to get a new rental from another company. Won’t be going back to Budget.

Poor|Sep 2022The tyres on our Mustang were so worn as to be unsafe. We discovered this when we had a puncture. We replaced all 4 tyres and Budget reimbursed us. But the car should never have been rented out with such tyres.

Poor|Sep 2022The best part of my car rental experience was dropping off the dirty vehicle budget gave me. The worst part of my experience.... 1. The budget counter had 5 associates working, and I still had to wait over 15 minutes in line. When I rent from Enterprise, I wait less than a minute and I'm out on the road. 2. The sales rep helping me with my rental was trying to upsell me every optional package. I politely told him I'm in a rush as my wife had an appointment, and I need to get going asap. And yet, he INSISTED on explaining to me every optional package after I told him I'm in a time crunch. Awful customer service. 3. The car was DIRTY. There was dirt on the dashboard, nothing was vacuumed. There was trash in the seat pockets behind driver and passenger seats that was left over from previous customers. Budget should be ashamed of themselves for allowing dirty vehicles to get rented. 4. I should have received a discount on my rental given how dirty the inside of the car was. Just awful.

I assume the insurance was from Avis and not through a third party or Kayak, If I had needed to use the insurance, it seemed cumbersome and not just a drop off at Avis and they would take care of it. I will never use this insurance from Kayak again and I found the practice on how you sell it very misleading. Because of this - I may not ever use Kayak again.

Poor|Jul 2021We had a reservation for a full size SUV 10 day rental from Seattle to Portland for approx. $1500. Upon arrival, we received a phone message that they did not have this SUV available and when we tried to reach them they were closed. They closed at noon and were also closed the next day. No ride. We called the 1-800 number and were told that another Seattle location would honor our reservation. At the airport Enterprise the line was a 3 hour wait. No kidding. A manager tried to help us and told us to return in the evening and he would have a SUV available. We Ubered ($) to our hotel and back in the evening. Another manager was working and said - no deal. We will have to charge you $2500 for the SUV. Very disappointing Enterprise! You are definitely taking advantage of the car shortage, but your customers will remember their treatment and not be using you in the future.

Good|May 2020The staff were nice, Jeep was new and very nice. Drop off was easy.
Enterprise sent us to a closed location for pick-up. We had to take a second Lyft to get to the consolidated location. When we picked up the SUV the gas tank was nearly empty.

Reeked of cigarettes and hadn't been thoroughly cleaned when we picked it up. Couldn't roll down the windows because we were driving though snow storms, but it was difficult to breathe and the stench stuck to you after you left the car. ;(

Wonderful|Mar 2023Wonderful handling vehicle at a reasonable cost. Pickup and drop off were very fast. The exterior of the car wasn’t entirely clean at pickup. It might be nice to have a “quick start cheat sheet” for basic controls on different models.

Poor|Sep 2023I found out I was driving a car which the tab was expired and because of that, they told me to change the car in the middle of my car rental. They told me I would need to pay extra because the car would be upgraded. After a long argument, I was able to keep the car with the expired tab. I also asked to add my husband for the additional driver but their response took so long that I had to drive by myself. I would not use this company ever again.

Mediocre|Jul 2023Overall was lied to by the guy working the desk. When picking up the car I was told I had paid too much money when scheduling rental online. So in order to get the "value" for what I had paid they told me they would add on the insurance and toll pass. Only to find out I would be billed extra for that later. Then I was told as long as I had the car back before they close I would only be charged one day. I had the car 26 hours and returned the car an hour and a half before they closed. Then I was still billed for having the car 2 days.

Poor|Jun 2023We had a prepaid, confirmed car rented. They did not have a car for us. They refused to provide us compensation or another car. Very little in the way of explanation, and no apology. They didn’t even want to give us a refund on the spot. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Put our entire vacation in jeopardy. Never again.

Poor|May 2023Will NEVER RENT FROM THIS SEATTLE LOCATION AGAIN! my assigned pick up time with 12 noon. I get there at 11:30, there’s about 20 people standing in a line. There are two windows for pick up. I get in the back of the line, and I start to hear conversation from others that have been waiting for two hours at this time. By the time I picked up my car, it was 2 o’clock. It was in a parking garage, and it was 90° day. Absolutely will not ever rent from thrifty in Seattle again.

Poor|Sep 2021Pick up was a nightmare- at least 100 people in line, while only 2 people working the counter. Next door Hertz was almost as bad (Thrifty is apparently owned by Hertz). Waited 1.5 hours in line to get the car I had already reserved and paid for. Will actively avoid Thrifty and Hertz for future rentals.

I reported a nick in the paint at the back right. Turns out the tire was bad and had a flat on the way back. They told me to change it out and return it to the closest lot (airport). They weren't willing to give me a car to get back to the city without charging me the extra hours for dropping it off after hours. Changing the tire wasn't bad but the fact that they weren't willing to send anyone out was their first fault. It's the principle...

Mediocre|Aug 2017My reservation was for a different location, i.e. Downtown Seattle. Even though I used the kayak app and put in pick up/drop off location as Seattle airport. Why should I have to take a taxi downtown to pick up my rental car? The receptionist at the desk found me a car to rent at the airport but it cost me more money. I would not recommend Kayak to a friend nor will I use it in the future.
